The Clifton Law Department is the legal advisor to the Clifton Municipal Council
and all city departments and employees. The department consist of the Municipal
Attorney and two Assistant Municipal Attorneys, who work on behalf of the city.
The Law Department prepares all ordinances and resolutions as directed by the Governing
Body and the administration, enforces all laws to protect the interests of the city
and its residents, institutes legal actions on behalf of the city, and defends the
city in legal actions instituted against it. The Law Department also interacts with
any outside counsel to represent the city in certain matters.
