KARATE

Learn the basics of Karate/Tae Kwon Do in this 8-week program. All classes are taught by the Martial Arts Training Academy staff. Limit: 24 per class.

CHEMICAL CREATIONS WORKSHOP

Come experience an exciting and hands-on world of fun as you conduct a variety of scientific experiments! Learn and discover many different scientific concepts in an entertaining and innovative approach. Make and take home your very own green slime from scratch! Learn all about chromatography and bring home a really cool design! You will witness some really cool science demonstrations from your instructor as well. Watch a tornado in a bottle and partake in some really powerful magnets! Get your mind in motion as you witness some really cool and crazy chemical creations! Instruction by Minds in Motion. Limit: 18 per class.

ADVANCED ROBOTICS WORKSHOP
Age(s) 6 – 12
Come free-build with hundreds of robotic parts, and control your robotic creations using remotes and engines to participate in our Minds in Motion battles! Working in small groups, you will truly be able to put your imagination and skills to the test as you participate in robotic technology. You won’t be able to take these parts home, but will be able to take your creations apart and rebuild them over and over! No need to have any prior robotic experience. Whether you have participated in our robotics classes or not, you are in for a real challenge! We'll even give you the option to assemble our Motorized Android Explorer or six foot long Crocosaurus! Instruction by Minds in Motion. Limit: 18 per class.

ANGRY BIRD PHYSICS WORKSHOP

Everyone has played the popular game in which birds are slingshot into the air to knock out a bunch of green pigs. Now be part of it in real life! With Minds in Motion’s amazing and unique set-up, kids can participate in this fascination game using a giant slingshot and various green pig platforms that are up to 8 feet high! Learn the simple laws of physics on how it all works and compete with other students on how many birds it will take you to take all the green pigs down. Participants will learn all about velocity, gravity, angles and how to aim. Limit: 18 per class.

ROLLER COASTERS & AMUSEMENT RIDE WORKSHOP
Age(s) 7 – 10
Team up with other classmates in building some of the most mind-blowing and electrifying amusement park rides you have ever seen! Working in groups, by the aid of your teacher and an instruction booklet, you will discuss, plan, and form these sensational rides just like real engineers. Learn all about how roller coasters work, the basic physics behind them, and experience some real thrill and fun as you see your finished creations in action. Watch your roller coaster go up, down, and loop around on some crazy inclines, twists, and turns all on its own by its mechanical motor. You have many wild coasters and rides to choose from and we build a different one every time! Instruction by Minds in Motion. Limit: 18 per class.

Come experience an exciting and hands-on world of fun as you conduct a variety of other scientific experiments! Watch it become flubber and bounce it around the room! You will witness some more science demonstrations from your instructor as well. Learn about UV light as you take home your very own UV bracelet! Work with Invisible ink and participate in an Air Zooka competition! What's an Air Zooka? Come and find out as you get your mind in motion! Limit: 18 per class.

CROSS COUNTRY AND FITNESS PROGRAM
Age(s) 6 – 14
This program is designed for boys and girls who are seriously interested in learning about track and field. No tryouts will take place. All are welcome. Program will include sprints, hurdles, relays and distance races. Parents will receive information from the coach throughout the program on independent meets that youth can participate in for a nominal fee. Instruction conducted by Coach Joel Pasternack. Limit: 30 per class.

PHYSICAL FIT ZONE

Come out and experience some of your favorite and exciting physical education games! You will learn innovative activities and skills incorporating volleyball, basketball, baseball, kickball, fitness and many more. The games are fun for all, no matter what grade you are in. “SEW FUN”
Age(s) 9 – 12
This basic sewing class is designed for youth ages 9 – 12 who want to learn the basics of hand stitching & an introduction to machine sewing. Participants will first learn how to thread a needle, measure & cut fabric and hand stitches such as hemming, basting or running. Once on the machine, kids will begin learning basic machine skills such as sewing straight, cutting, zig-zagging and more. Limit: 8 per class.

BOWLING

14-week afterschool program includes 2 games of bowling, use of rental shoes and balls. Trophy awards and pizza party on the last day for all. Register by January 14, 2013 at Garden Palace Lanes. Applications are also available at the Clifton Recreation Department. Choose Tuesdays or Wednesdays. $2.00 donated back to Clifton Recreation each week per child. A great 6-week program designed to improve weight, sports performance and/or fitness levels. A variety of fun workouts are offered from kickboxing, aerobics, weight training, muscle conditioning, martial arts, yoga and more. Learn proper diet, snacking and other tips from a nationally certified dietician. Limit: 16 per class.

This beginner dance class is designed to teach the elements of various street/club dances. It will encourage students to use their bodies in ways that help to develop/execute many different stylistic techniques. Hip-hop dance classes allow people to emphasize their creative rhythmic talents. See if hip-hop is for you. Limit: 12 per class.

ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING

Classes meet for 1 hour, once a week for 6-weeks beginning Saturday, April 27th, Sunday, April 28th, or Tuesday, April 30th. Prices are $55.00 for Beginner & Adv. Beginner, $65.00 for Intermediate 1 and $85.00 for Intermediate 2 (non-residents add $10.00). Loaner racquets available (juniors 1st lesson only). Instruction by Tennis Dynamics. MODEL ROCKETRY
Age(s) 6 & up (with parent)
Participants (and their parents) will come up close with various rockets the instructor has built and make a rocket of their own to fly in this 6-week class. Rocket launches will take place weekly.
