Recreation - Artsport

Participants: Completion of 4th through entering 9th grade (as of September 2013). Maximum age for Artsport is age 14. Children entering 9th grade and who are 15 years of age or older, should apply for the Counselor in Training Program or Teen Travel Camp.
Registration: Pre-registration is required. There are 6 sessions offered. Each session lasts one week and is limited to 100 participants. You may register for as many sessions as you wish through the mail-in process. Beginning June 3rd, walk-in registration will be accepted. Parents may register for any and all camp openings still available and purchase T-shirts. Non-residents are not eligible to register until one week prior to the start of summer camp (July 1st) at which time registration will be open, at the non-resident rate, if space is still available.
Fee: $35.00 resident / $45.00 non-resident per session (additional cost for T-shirts)
Location: School 1, 158 Park Slope
Special Features: Activity Selection: Campers will be eligible to select two programs per week (i.e. soccer & baseball) listed on the camp application. They will learn those activities throughout the week by the means of drills, skills instruction, lead-up games and activities. Activity enrollment is limited for each sport/art offered each session; therefore, two (2) alternate choices must be made just in case your first choices are full. You must make separate selections for each session you are attending. It is advised that campers do not select the same activities each week if they are attending multiple sessions of camp. The same lessons & skills will be taught each session in each activity, so for your child’s greatest enjoyment, please vary their activity selection from session to session. All campers, boys & girls are encouraged to try all the various sports. In addition to the two programs they select, all campers will have a Rec. Sports session each day. Periodic trips to Athenia Steel Recreation Complex for outdoor activities may occur.
Equipment & Supplies: Sneakers are required for all sports activities. Individuals signed up for baseball must bring their own mitt.
Park Picnic: Friday, August 16th at Main Memorial Park from 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. An additional cost of $8.00 will apply. Open to all campers from sessions 1 – 6. Fee includes lunch, games, talent show, rides and much more.
Park Dance: Thursday, August 8th at School # 3 (365 Washington Avenue) from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. An additional cost of $8.00 will apply. Open to all campers registered from sessions 1 – 6. Fee includes dinner and entertainment.
NJ Jackals Trip: Wednesday, July 17th at Yogi Berra Stadium. Open to participants registered in the 6th session of Artsport only! Pre-payment for the trip and the purchasing of a camp T-shirt (required for trips) can be made at the Clifton Recreation Office beginning June 3rd. Additional information will be mailed to you in the parent handbook.
