Recreation - Counselor in Training (C.I.T.) Program
The Counselor-In-Training program is a development program for youth who have completed 9th grade and up, or age 15 or older. The program is designed for young teens to learn the responsibilities of becoming a day camp counselor.
CIT’s will be responsible for assisting in daily activities with the summer programs. Participants will be required to attend all orientation sessions and staff meetings as well as be available for 5 of the 6 weeks camp is conducted which is July 8th – August 16th
Each trainee will receive a mid-summer and final evaluation of their performance by the Site Director / Sports Instructors and Youth Development Coordinator. A personal consultation will accompany each evaluation to help CIT’s learn more about their performances and provide an opportunity for them to discuss any concerns or questions they may have encountered. A file will be kept on each CIT and maintained at the Recreation Department.
All participants registered in the CIT program will be asked to come in for an interview to acquaint them to the procedures of applying for a real job and to see if this program is the best fit for them. CIT enrollment for the program is limited. All CIT’s selected will be required to attend staff training the week of July 1st at the CommunityRecreation Center, 1232 Main Ave. Exact times will be given during CIT interviews.
The cost of the program is $50.00 (Residents Only), which includes two T-shirts and admission for all trips.
