LOLLIPOPS & ROSES CONCERT

2:00 – 3:30 p.m.
This Annual Intergenerational Band Concert co-sponsored by the Clifton Education Foundation, the Music Department of Clifton Public Schools and the Clifton Alumni/Community Band will be held at Clifton High School. Tickets can be purchased through band members, alumni organization, Education Foundation at the door day of concert and at the high school main office beginning mid-May. All proceeds go to the Clifton Education Foundation and the Alumni Community Band.

PAPER MILL PLAYHOUSE PRESENTS: DISNEY’S THE LITTLE MERMAID

Join the Clifton Recreation Department in a magical kingdom beneath the sea where a beautiful young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above.  Based on one of Hans Christian Anderson’s most beloved stories, with music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken.  It’s a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages.  Event takes place at the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn. The price per ticket is $38.00, which includes transportation, supervision and the performance. Bus will leave from the front of City Hall at 5:30 p.m. and will return approximately 10:30 p.m. Tickets are limited and on a first-come first-served basis. “FUN IN THE SUN” GRASS VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENTS

Join the Clifton Recreation Department for their “Fun in the Sun” Grass Volleyball Tournament Series. Taking the traditional format of a grass tournament and adding some fun features, this event is designed to provide an enjoyable experience for both veteran grass players as well as those who are new to the outdoor game. The number and variety of divisions will be based on registration. Divisions offered in Men’s & Women’s Doubles, Reverse Co-Ed Doubles, Men’s & Women’s Quads & Co-Ed Quads. Pre-registration is recommended. The cost is $25.00 per team member ($30.00 day of the tournament). There are additional discounts for Clifton residents, high school students & Powerzone Volleyball Center members. Prizes will be awarded for division winners. Come to watch or come to play. Open to all Clifton students grades K – 8 Participate in an exciting soccer skills competition. The contest will be held at the Athenia Steel Complex – 718 Clifton Avenue. YOUTH WEEK FISHING CONTEST
SPONSORED BY: MELTZER’S SPORTING GOODS (IN MEMORY OF VICTOR BADOR)
Saturday, May 18th 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Open to Clifton students grades K – 12, plus an Adult category (Clifton Residents Only). The contest will be held at Main Memorial Park – 1395 Main Avenue. Fish must be caught by hook (no nets) and the hook must be in the fish’s mouth when presented for judging. Final fish must be caught by 9:45 a.m. Awards will be issued for the Largest Fish and Most Fish Caught for boys and girls in various grade categories and male and female winner for adults. Winners will receive a trophy, Recreation Dollars and a gift. All participants will be entered into a free raffle. The raffle will be drawn at 10:00 a.m. You must be present to win. Have your picture taken with your prize catch for only $5.00. Pre-registration is not required but recommended. Register for this event at the Recreation Department.

A fishing clinic will be conducted by Go Go Gomez on Wednesday, May 8th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Fees Apply. Pre-registration required. Contact the Recreation Department at (973) 470-5956 for registration information.

YOUTH WEEK BOWLING CONTEST

Open to all Clifton students grades K – 12, plus an Adult category (Clifton Residents only). Each participant bowls 2 games. Fee is $5.00 to participate (includes shoe rental). Event will be held at Garden Palace Lanes – 42 Lakeview Avenue. Pre-registration is required. Register for this event at the Recreation Department along with your payment. Awards will be issued for top bowlers in various grade categories & male & female for adults.

YOUTH WEEK MINIATURE GOLF CONTEST

Open to all Clifton students grades K – 12, plus an Adult category (Clifton Residents only). Each participant plays one round of miniature golf. Fee is $6.00 to participate. Event will be held at Willowbrook Golf Center, 366 Route 46 East in Wayne, NJ. Pre-registration is required. Register for this event at the Recreation Department along with your payment. Awards will be issued in various grade categories for youth, and male and female for adults.

THEME & WATER PARK DISCOUNT TICKETS
The Clifton Recreation Department is selling discount tickets for the following parks this spring: Six Flags Great Adventure & Wild Safari, Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom & Mountain Creek for the 2013 season. Great Adventure tickets are available for purchase at the Recreation Office now. All other tickets can be purchased beginning May 6th. Prices are as follows: Six Flags theme park and safari combo tickets cost $37.00 per adult. Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom tickets cost $41.00 per adult. Mountain Creek Waterpark tickets cost $30.00 (full day) per adult (48”+). Tickets will only be available for a limited time so get yours early.

LEARN TO ROW DAY

Have you ever driven along Route 21 and seen people rowing on the Passaic River? Join Nereid Boat Club located at 350 Riverside Avenue in Rutherford for “Learn to Row Day”. Club members and coaches will be available to demonstrate and instruct participants on “proper rowing technique”. Then join the group in a boat for a row on the Passaic. COMMUNITY BAND OUTDOOR CONCERT

The Clifton Community Band will be performing an outdoor concert around the Clifton Art Center grounds this summer. Bring your family and friends out for an evening of great music and entertainment.

MEADOWLANDS FAIR
June 21st – July 7th
Get a head start on making plans to visit this year’s Meadowlands Fair. Purchase your tickets in advance at the Clifton Recreation Department, 900 Clifton Ave, 2nd Flr. beginning April 19th – June 14th. Tickets cost $6.95 per adult, $4.95 per child and $28.95 per mega pass. Tickets are valid for one day of your choice except the mega pass can’t be used on opening night. CITY PICNIC & FIREWORKS DISPLAY

Enjoy the City of Clifton’s fun filled picnic with family and friends at. Great food, crafts, health screenings, clowns, free activities and rides for the children. The City of Clifton fireworks display will be held on at Clifton High School Stadium. The Clifton Community Band will perform during the pre-firework concert. SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
Sundays, July 7th – August 18th Sunday Evenings at 7:30 p.m.
Enjoy a variety of music from Broadway Reviews, Swing, Rock, Rhythm and Blues, Polka, Oldies and more! The free summer concert series sponsored by the Clifton Board of Recreation will be held at Main Memorial Park (Park Slope & Main Avenue). “Get Up and Go” prior to the concerts (6:30 p.m.) as we walk around Main Memorial Pond. CAMELBEACH TRIP
Saturday, July 13th 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Experience Camelbeach with your family and the Clifton Recreation Department. Try all 22 of the exciting waterslides, including the checkered flag challenge, triple venom, spin cycle and the Titan family tubing adventure. Bring the family to explore camel cove, an interactive activity pool with mini slides, giant tipping bucket and lots of water surprises. Combine all this water excitement with miniature golf, great food and a beautiful mountainside setting. The price is $44.00 per person for children and adults ages 3 and over. An adult must accompany children under 16 years of age. Pre-registration is required. Register at the Clifton Recreation Department. Deadline is Monday, June 24th. Bus leaves and returns to the front of City Hall.

CLIFTON NIGHT AT THE JACKALS
THEME: ST. PATTY’S DAY
Thursday, August 1st 7:05 p.m.
Join fellow residents as we cheer for the NJ Jackals at Yogi Berra Stadium on the MSU Campus to win the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Co-sponsored by the Clifton Recreation Department, the NJ Jackals and the Clifton Optimist Club. Wear your St. Patty’s Day best & receive a goody bag at the game. Be creative…prizes will be given to the participants with the best outfit. Join us for crafts, games, and a lucky charm hunt. The cost is $5.50 per person. Receive 1 free raffle ticket for NJ Jackals souvenirs (courtesy of the Clifton Optimist Club). Participants interested in becoming a Baseball Buddy, Spirit Team member or Clean Sweep Squad member for the evening should register at the Recreation Department. Residents will be seated together and the raffles will be drawn in the 5th inning.

DRIVE-IN MOVIE AT NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
Tuesday, August 6th Show begins between 8:45 – 9:00 p.m.
The sponsor of this event C.A.S.A. (Clifton Against Substance Abuse) wants to encourage all families to join them at Main Memorial Park for a viewing of the blockbuster hit Wreck it Ralph (rated PG). Bring your, beach blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the show on a large movie screen, under the twilight. The movie begins as soon as it is dark enough to view. Soda, popcorn and other snacks will be available for purchase at our snack stand.

FAMILY CAMP-OUT
Friday, August 23rd & Saturday, August 24th Beginning 6:00 p.m.
(rain date Friday, August 30th & Saturday, August 31st) 

Bring your tent and sleeping bags for our award winning Family Camp-out at Albion Park. Enjoy a fun night of events and camping. Sit around the campfire, enjoy dinner, roast marshmallows, sing songs and tell tales. The following morning, enjoy breakfast and educational camp stations covering knot tying, fire building, crafts, cooking, first aid, compass reading and more. The cost is $10.00 for a family of 4 or $3.00 per person. Register at the Recreation Department. Please note: If you want a campsite next to another family, all parties must check-in at the same time at the event. This year’s camping theme is birdwatching.
