FIRST AID & CPR

“MY HEART IS IN YOUR HANDS” CPR & 1ST AID RALLY

On Saturday, February 9, 2008 from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. at the Community Recreation Center, give your family and friends a special Valentine gift by learning life-saving skills. The program will provide a modular selection of training. Students may select to take any portion of the program (except Child CPR which is only available to those who are enrolled in the CPR class on this date) or all components.

The modules offered are:

CPR & First Aid Challenge:

8:30 – 11:00 a.m. (Only for individuals who are currently certified. Individuals will be required to take a written test and perform the required skills. Certification will be issued upon successful competition however; individuals unsuccessful with the challenge will be required to join the scheduled class as listed below.)

Adult CPR/AED Training Only:

9:00a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

First Aid Training Only:

1:00 – 5:30 p.m.

Adult CPR & First Aid Training:

9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Child CPR/AED:

4:30 – 5:30 p.m. (Only for individuals enrolled in the CPR class this date.)

 

All participants will receive a Valentine gift, to give to their loved one, with a tag that reads “I am trained in CPR and First Aid because I love you – Your Heart Is In My Hands”.

The CPR Module teaches participants to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory and cardiac emergencies in adults. A topic include caring for conscious & unconscious choking victims; performing CPR; care for breathing & cardiac emergencies in adults; avoiding blood borne pathogen exposure; and includes training in AED (Automated External Defibrillation).

The First Aid Module teaches participants how to recognize emergency situations, check the scene and call for help, avoid blood borne pathogen exposure, care for wounds, bone & soft tissue injuries, head & spinal injuries, burns, heat & cold emergencies, manage sudden illnesses, stroke, seizure, bites etc., and how to minimize shock.

American Red Cross certifications will be issued upon successful completion. The cost is $20.00 per person/ per module (First Aid and/or CPR) and $5.00 per person/module for the Challenge (First Aid and/or CPR). No charge for the Child segment. Register at the Clifton Recreation Department Office or mail in course registration form (page 6) with payment.
