Current Skate Lessons and Camps
ALL ABOARD 1 SKATEBOARD LESSONSThis 6-week course will teach the basic skills necessary to skateboard with ease. During the 6-week course, youth ages 6 & up will learn stance, turning, pushing off, stops and more. Helmet, wrist, knee, & elbow protection is mandatory to participate.
ALL ABOARD 2 SKATEBOARD LESSONSThis 6-week course will teach the basic skills necessary to skateboard with ease. To be eligible for Level 2, participant skills must already include board control, ollieing and some ramp experience. Helmet, wrist, knee, & elbow protection is mandatory to participate.
“ROCK & ROLL” 1 IN-LINE SKATING LESSONSRock and Roll 1 will introduce youth ages 6 & up to basic skills that will help them get a fast start in the great fun sport of in-line skating. During the 6 weeks, participants will learn strokes, turns, stops and more. Rock and Roll 1 is for those individuals that have basic skating skills, but would like to improve. This class is great for roller hockey players starting out in the sport or looking to improve their skills to better their game. Helmet, wrist, knee, & elbow protection is mandatory to participate.
ROCKET POWER 16-week instructional roller hockey program for youth ages 6 – 8 interested in learning the sport of hockey, or wanting to improve their basic skills. The first 3 weeks will be without skates. Knee & shin, mouth guard, skates, padded gloves & elbow protection is mandatory to participate. (If you have your own helmet and/or stick, please bring.)
YOUTH STREET HOCKEY LEAGUERegister now for the Fall Street Hockey league. The program will be conducted for youth ages 9 – 17. Tryouts & team drafts will take place on Tuesday, September 30th at the Chelsea Park Hockey Rink beginning 4:30 p.m. No Exceptions! Games are played at The Clifton Skatezone on weekends & Mondays beginning Sunday, October 12th . Program runs for an 6 game season, weather permitting. Fee is $25.00 per person (resident) & $35.00 per person (non-resident). Register at City Hall. Deadline is September 30th . All players are required to wear helmet with full face mask, mouth guard, elbow, knee & shin protection, padded gloves and roller blades. Goalies must wear full gear.
ADULT HOCKEYOn Sundays, open hockey will be held for Adults 18 & over at the Clifton Skatezone from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. The weekly cost is $2.00 per person. Limited to the first 30 players to arrive each week.
COACHES CERTIFICATION PROGRAMCourse designed by the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports for individuals wishing to become certified as youth coaches. The Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. clinic is based upon the “Minimum Standards for Volunteer Coaches Safety Orientation & Training Skills Program. Pre-registration is required. No registration will be taken on-site at the class. Limited space is available.
